B2B FINALLY Immersed in Social Media

All right, all right. It took me a while to overcome the preconception that social media wasn’t just for B2C. As a B2B marketer I have finally come to the realization that social media MUST become a vital part of my marketing strategy. I used to use social media just enough to stay relevant, sending a few industry ‘tweets’ here and ‘liking’ some interesting articles there, but my paradigm has shifted over the last few moths as a handful of NEW social media features have really opened my eyes to how B2B marketers can utilize tools, collaboratively, to achieve unwavering results.

SEO Integration: Using the same SEO terms in your Website, Blog, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube site will not only connect your company to these relevant key phrases (e.g. 3D virtual product), but will also drive your page rankings up in Google and Bing.

Educating Prospects: A recent Forbes article stated that 78% of salespeople using social media outsell their peers. Why? Because they were better equipped to provide prospects with relevant content regarding their products or solutions, accelerating the sales cycle. Focus on sharing your own unique interactive content and not re-forwarding someone else’s. Getting the word out there about your own products and solutions is key to building both awareness and credibility. But more importantly, give followers something interactive to engage with to make them active participants in the sales cycle.

Sales Training: Using social media is one of the most cost effective ways to educate your global sales team about a new product launches or product enhancement. For example, companies are now sharing links to 3D virtual products (that look and behave just like the actual products) with supporting marketing messages that crisply communicate unique product features and benefits. Using social media this way gives your sales team a HUGE competitive advantage, as they first to market, but they can also use these virtual products in lieu of real products for demonstrations anywhere, anytime, across the globe.
